Volunteers are needed for Free Income Tax Assistance Project

Last year volunteer efforts helped bring over $800,000 in Earned Income Tax Credits
to working families in Cameron County. This year we will be expanding the project
to include tax sites in Los Fresnos and Port Isabel. I am hoping to have at least
sixty volunteers on board for this effort.

Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering.

* Volunteers will become IRS certified tax preparers through an online certification
process which will be available (for the 2006 tax year) after November 1rst.
* On Dec 9th we will be hosting a half day orientation for new volunteers (and old
ones who want a refresher course).
* On either January 12 or 13th --All volunteers must attend a one day training session
on the software Taxwise and quality control issues.

Sites will be opening the week of January 15th and we ask volunteers to be available
one evening per week for the six weeks of the tax season.

Mark your calendars and let me know if you are interested and available.

Thanks
